WHAT IS THE SHOFAR?You may hear a unique horn sound during our gathering — this is called a shofar.The shofar is an ancient instrument made from a ram’s horn. It has been used for thousands of years in the biblical tradition to call attention, mark sacred moments, and invite people to pause and reflect on God.Today, we lift the sound of the shofar into the spiritual realm as an act of prayer and declaration.
WHY DO WE BLOW THE SHOFAR?We use the shofar as a symbolic spiritual act to represent:A CALL TO AWARENESS— a moment to pause & reflectAN INVITATION TO PRAYER— turning our hearts toward GodA DECLARATION OF HOPE— that light, truth, & peace matterA REMINDER OF GOD’S PRESENCE— that He is near and attentive
IS THIS ABOUT PEOPLE OR PROTESTS?No. This is not directed at people and is not a form of protest. It is simply a peaceful expression of prayer for God’s blessing over this area.We declare God’s truth, peace, goodness, and the light of righteousness into this place.
WHY THIS MATTERSWe believe that when people turn toward God in prayer, His light, truth and peace changes the atmosphere around us.• Where there is confusion, clarity can come. • Where there is heaviness, hope can rise. • Where things feel broken, restoration can begin. • Light overcomes darkness.
